Did you ever wonder if we actually exist or whether life is some kind of elaborate dream?
French philosopher Rene Descartes (1596-1650) found an answer to the question whether we exist using what is known as 'Cartesian doubt'.
What he did was, he went away for some time and decided to doubt everything he could until he found a reason not to doubt. He doubted his sense perception thinking that he was being decieved by an 'evil demon'.
But when it came to his thinking, he could doubt no further, because at the end of the day, doubting IS thinking. You can never doubt that you think because when you doubt, you are thinking.
And so he realised that he existed, because thinking IS something.
"I think, therefore I am."
