MYSTERY SHIP, CAPE HATTERAS, NORTH CAROLINA

  Author:  18155  Category:(Ghosts) Created:(1/17/2007 10:15:00 AM)

On January 30, 1921, the cargo schooner CAROLL DEERING went aground on the North Carolina coast at Diamond Shoals. The ship floundered in good weather with her sails still set. Rescuers found no one on board the vessel, except for two cats. A dinner meal had been served in the crews mess hall, but it had not been touched. No members of the crew were ever seen again, but for many years afterward, residents along the coast at Diamond Shoals reported seeing the mysterious ghost ship running aground.Haunted Places,pp.313-314.
