not really personally. you could relate that to anyone and anything I think, not just witches and christians. Besides in early days, you are using the title "christian" very losely. I think they were not only "christians" but puritans....i think. anyways...duh. better shud up now before I make myself seem silly:)LOL but like I said, nope...didn't think that or relate that. it is that way with almost everything, including what some might say about christianity. others are afriad of jesus because they do not "know him"???? just wondering:) |

Crazy Queen< What about the early pagans killing the early Christians?? It kind of reminds me of that. And this whole Inquistion thing, that was the Catholic Chruch, not Christianity. Don't confuse the two. SUEDE |

okay I generalized sue me :P. Yes you are correct suede but it happend differntly then the above scenario. Actually I know that christians were killed by pagans (not the same pagans as the witches that were burned...) and werent they roman? Didnt they make them slaves or gladiators? Its just this witch trial thing was slightly differnt because not everyone killed was even a witch! |

Kaja< The actual history of the Inquistion, the Spainish one, was to convert the Jews to Catholicism. It is truly unfortunate that "others" got caught up in the mess as well. I guess the thing that bugs me, is the misinformation about the Inquistion. One it was the Catholic Chruch, and two they were really after the Jews. Europe had a huge Anti Semitic policy back then. Of course since those countries were going after the Jews, they tacked on extras as well, i.e. pagans. Also, yes, unmentioned is the murder of Christians by pagans, as well as the murder of Jews by pagans all throughout all of history. If anyone has truly had it bad, it's the Jews, and that needs to be acknowledged. The most recent of these was of course Germany's campaign against them, around just 70 years ago. So yea, both pagans and Christians have had their bad times, on both ends of the spectrum, but the people that have had it truly bad has been the Jews, a fact constantly ignored by all other sides.
