A DEADLY QUESTION

What single event in warfare killed more peole than any other?

Most people guess it to be one of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

The Hiroshima bomb killed approximately 75,000 people, the Nagasaki bomb killed about 35,000.

The aerial attack on Dresden, Germany, on the night of Februry 13th, 1945, killed more people than the total for both atomic bombs combined.

The attack on Dresden by British and American bombers started a firestorm that killed over 135,000 people and completely leveled the city of one million.

Date: 10/13/2002 7:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    To bad about Dresden..It was a beautiful city by all accounts..I read some place that Heidleburg was suppose to be bombed, but an officer in charge had visited that city and loved it, so he got the bombing switched to Dresden..Just a little Sunday night trivia to bore everyone with:)))..by the way, I've been to Heidleburg and it is very beautiful..

Date: 10/13/2002 10:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    Verrry interesting. Did not know that. War is definitely--well, (<rhyms with that). But I got another one. WWI had the most massive killing of all. Yep. Disease. Not sure what it was (typhoid?) but more soldiers by far died from disease than enemies back then. Well up into the hundred thousands if I remember correctly. Good post. Peace. ~GypsyHawk~
