'One minute we were partying the next, the whole lot went up. We ran for our lives'
'There were bodies all over the floor of the bar. So many bodies were just black mounds, some were red.'
'As I came out I saw awful things. One person was absolutely covered in blood, another woman was running with her clothes burned on to her body.'
'There was an almighty blast that picked us up off our feet and threw us over the road. It was an horrific image, to see people torn to shreds, burning.'
'I saw people on fire. Many people were carrying others. Most were bleeding. Everything was on fire. It was chaos. It was dark except for the flames.'
'I hit the deck, then ran for my life. There were burning people everywhere and injured everywhere, but I couldnt look back. I ran for my life.'
'There are many Australians unaccounted for, many. People should get out of their minds that it cant happen here, it can and it has happened on our own doorstep.'
'Ive been to the hospital already and Ive seen some gruesome sights, unbelievable actually. Its like a bloody war movie.'
'I am looking for my daughter. The kids were at a 15 th birthday party at the Sari Club. We just keep looking, we just keep looking.'
187 perish in Bali night club attack....
September 11 affected me, but I think only now am I beginning to understand what the people of USA actually went through; the emotion, the sadness, the grief. I feel physically sick. To read the stories of what people saw, to hear what people went through and to see those graphic images on tv are devastating.
A friend of mine was in Bali at the time of the bombing, and due to a flight mix up, he was at the airport when the explosion went off, otherwise he definitely would have been in the Sari Club. I feel ill just thinking about that twist of fate.
I was standing in that very nightclub a year ago and I saw for myself how many people would pack into such a small area. I saw the fact that guys didnt wear tops and girls wore only bikini tops and short shorts due to the heat. No wonder so many of them have severe burns.
I am in shock, I feel sick and I cant look at another newspaper or television report. I cant hear another parent crying over their child, or see another friend searching desperately through the burnt remains of many, many unreconisable people in a Bali hospital searching for their friend but at the same time hoping they wont find them.
Today I am saddened, sickened and scared to the very core of my being. All I can ask is Why?
