I Guess It Has It's Good Points But I Don't Think I Really Like It **Frankenstein

We have been to concerts for the past two nights and it was festival seating both times. We're going again tomorrow and it will be the same once more. More about that in a minute. In case you're wondering, we're having a local festival here all weekend just like we do every year and that's why there are so many concerts. As for the acts we saw and are yet to see, I'll save that subject for another post.

There are those who like festival seating because all of the tickets cost the same and everyone has an equal chance of getting a good spot. The bad part is that if you don't get there extremely early, you're pretty much assured of having a lousy view. I've done that at times in my life and I'm just not willing to do it anymore. I can remember arriving four hours early at rock concerts when I was a teenager just so I would be certain to be on the front row. Not only did I have to just stand there waiting around for all of that time but even after I got into the arena and secured a spot, I was stuck with having to stand there for however many more hours until the show was finally over. It was always a royal pain in the butt (and back and legs) and I remember it well. It's been a long time since I was a teenager and, like I said, I'm not willing to do that anymore. I would like to get your opinion on this. Do you like the idea of festival seating or would you rather just be able to buy a ticket and know that you have a place to sit no matter what time you get there? I'd rather pay more for a ticket than to have to waste so much time waiting for no good reason. How do you feel about it?

Date: 10/12/2002 10:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 52215    festival seating was the cause of all the tragic deaths at a Who concert in Cincinnati....so, i'd much rather buy a ticket!

Date: 10/12/2002 10:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 5940    Being an avid concert goer myself, as well as a former teen ager, I prefer to buy a ticket knowing where I will be sitting. Festival seating is alright, if you are willing to put up with the "cattle call" methods that you described. I also hate concerts that are played at football/baseball stadiums as well. Mostly because the sound quality is poor and the seating arrangements are lousy. I like small venues. Good post, and let me know what bands you saw.

Date: 10/13/2002 5:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 44321    I like knowing I have a seat, festival seating is too aggravating in my opinion and too much hassle.
Date: 10/13/2002 7:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 58308    I'd pay more anyday of the week to know that I had a good 'secure' seat. The festival could also make more money. I'm like you Frank. Much Hugs! Zeeboette
Date: 10/13/2002 7:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 46515    Well Frankie, personally it doesn't matter to me as long as I am close to the front so that when I throw my underwear on stage I don't miss.
