ok...if your a guy...no offense, but dont grow them out long I think it looks nasty lol and if u need to stop biting your nails... dip your fgingers in tabasco sauce...every morning and u wont bite them!! and once u do stop biting your nails...clip them if they start to get longer...  |

Ya can buy products that you put on your nails that make them taste REAL foul...just to repulse you from ever biting them. Ya can usually get these products from Chemists and the like.  |

LOL I just had to cut all of mine off the other day all real all real long because my friend broke several......man I was po'd I'm so obsessed with my nails....*sigh* gotta relearn how to do basically everything. Heckler..........LMAOOOOOOOOOOO........well having read the books that they use to teach nail classes at a beauty school...in regards to the guitar playing...yes it will effect it, not to mention that you will not be able to grow your nails because they will be brittle for a long time! I have bitten mine for 20 years. There have been times that I have had long nails. You have think of your nails like a piece of shale rock. When you snap a shale rock in half you have layers. When you bite your nails you have the same effect. It takes years to regain the strength of your nails, just as it takes a peice of shale rock to gain strength with all its layers. You should start out by pushing your cuticles back and massaging them, cutting your nails on a regular basis. Cutting them and filing them with a nail file will bring your layers together.....most will notice that when you grow your nails out if you are previous nail biter they become weak and bend in the center...that is because its missing some layers in those spots making it weaker. It takes time, patience and A LOT of breakage before they become strong...  |

it affects my guitar playing! i have the problem of biting my nails too.. i used to have acrylics put on but i stopped that cuz i always ended up cutting my left ones down way shorter than my right ones and it looked funny.. plus it was too annoying... anyways it affects my guitar playing but it IS something you can get used to.. just look at dolly parton... i dunno how the heck she does that...  |

I had the same problem, but I shut my fingers in a car door (by accident) It stopped me from biting them because I didn't have any..lol..Not that I would reccomend it or anything.  |
