Think of it this way, your safe now, and thank God nothing really bad happend to you. Material things are replacable, human lives are not. Well Thats atleast what they told me when our house burned down, pretty hard to accept, but it's true. HUGS TO YA! ![]() |

Becky, here's what happened to me twelve years ago August 18. We, had finished work late a decided to take my room mate out, he was getting married in a couple of weeks but didn't want a bachelor party, so a night on the town was the very least we could do. We went down to Austin and partied pretty hard for a couple of hours and decided to head back home. We were playing it really smart, we had a designated driver and a good car so we were all set. Well on the way home the driver fell asleep and the bachelor was ejected from the car, I was partially ejected, and both other passengers we cut up pretty bad. The driver, ironically was fine. They couldn't find the bachelor for a few minutes...the details are sketchy as I was both intoxicated and losing blood very quickly, but they finally found him...he had been pinned under the car and was killed instantly. I spent four days in the hospital and received a generous supply of someone's blood, four pints I was told and when the time finally came to go home I had to get in a car...I became ghostly white, and to this day still have trouble talking about that night. You are completely normal. It will get better, It just takes time, I don't know how much time, but it does get easier. John ![]() |

...glad to hear that you're in good shape other than the sore neck! Isn't it amazing how you always have the plus or minus five second feeling? Hoping you feel fine real soon and you get back on the road quick too! Just remember that this was an accident and you shouldn't start driving on the shoulder of the road with your blinkers on because you're all nervous. Am I going on and on? Just happy to hear you're OK! ![]() |

Yea, it's very normal to feel this way, Becky. In fact, I'd be surprised if you weren't digging yourself with regrets---it's what humans do. (those with hearts, anyway) And you're a *very* sweet person, so I think this will be harder on you than normally. Anyway, as you said, it hasn't even been two days. You're going to need time to adjust, and that could take awhile. But just be thankful that you're alive. If you could survive the crash, you can definetely survive having regrets. Love, ![]() |

Becky I unnderstand where you are coming from because I had a serious accident which totaled my car too. It was on Oct.15. I had to be taken by helicopter, had a broken arm, staples in my head, a torn rotator cuff and another kind of tear on my shoulder, and my other arm sustained trauma and I could not even lift my arm. Soo all the while in the hospital people had to feed me, because I had no use of either arm. Through physical therapy, I now have use of my one arm ' but I am facing surgery on my other shoulder. So you see I can empathise with you. It is scary to know that it could have been worse. Just thank God you did not lose your life, and try to occupy your mind with other thoughts to take your mind off of things. Sometimes though , I think that Doctors need to realize people go through mental trauma even after they have healed physically, and recommend counceling if they can't get past the trauma of reliving the accident. God bless. Jasmine ![]() |

I was in an accident a couple years ago. I had to borrow my brother's car cause mine was in the shop. I was coming home from work and hit a deer. Upon hitting the deer i hit the brakes and the deer went under the car and I went over top of it. I drove his car to the next exit which was about 50 feet away. I got out and looked at the damage and just started crying thinking my brother is going to kill me. I ripped the entire front of his car off. The hood was curled up, no grill, no headlight on the one side, the fender was curled in, I had blood running down the windshield. I didn't know what to do. I drove the car back to my work not realizing there was no lights or taillights. I pulled in and my co-worker tried getting me out of the car, but I refused to get out. I had a death grip on the steering wheel and was sitting there hypervenilating. He called my brother and told him that I hit a deer and my brother actually said it was better that I hit a deer than another car. He said he would come and get me. He got to my job and jumped out of the truck saying he was going to kill me, then started laughing. He had me drive the car home, but followed close behind since there were no lights. To this day everytime I see a deer on the road I panic. It is like I have flashbacks of that night. ![]() |

*hugs Becky* Hey, this is normal. Whenever we do something bad, that either we know, or believe is our fault. We question everything, from all the what if questions, to why didn't I questions... So, yeah this is normal. Now quit beating yourself up, get the new car and get back out there! :) LOL -- ![]() |

| Date: 12/8/2001 8:56:00 PM From Authorid: 48011 This is so normal! I know exactly what you are going through. A month ago I was in a car acciden and I had just gotten my license. I felt so guilty afterwards. I wasn't alone in my car though I had 4 of my good friends in the car with me. We were lucky we didn't roll the car and get seriously injured. What you are going through is the same thing that happened to me. You feel like what if I had done this or this, would've I still got into this?? I had whiplash too and I know it's not fun at all! Good luck with your recovery and don't worry it all gets better! icegoddess_ |
