Travelling and HUNGRY!.....Ladyluck

Hello Everyone!

Well tonight was a real eye opener for me...:(

My husband and I went into the city to do some Christmas shopping tonight, and at the busiest intersection in that city was a man....dressed in nothing but a fleese jacket with the hood up and tied tight around his neck..jogging pants and a pair of sneakers..He was holding a sign..."Travelling and HUNGRY"

We were several cars back and people were just driving by this man, without a second glance...I couldnt believe it!! When we came up along side of him, my husband rolled down the window and handed this poor man $20.00...and I leaned over and told him to get a hot meal and maybe catch a cab to the homeless shelter for the night...He looked...STUNNED!! All he said was "Thank you!! I will!!

Now what got me..and broke my heart the most was...Here it is Christmas season...Peace on Earth, good will towards men...and people were just driving by this man without a second thought to it...How sad!!

People should be willing to help their fellow man all year long, but especially at Christmas time..Maybe this young man was just trying to get home for Christmas..Maybe he had loved ones out there looking or waiting for him...I will never know...but I can look myself in the mirror tonight when I brush my teeth, and I can go to sleep and sleep peacefully...knowing that I did the right thing....How many others will beable to say that tonight?

I just wanted to share this story with you...not to toot my own horn..but so that others will see that if you look deep inside of yourself, you can imagine what may be going through the mind of a homeless person you see on the street..and try...just a little to have some compassion for your fellow human beings.

Love to you all!

xoxo Ladyluck

In fact I'm pretty proud of the area I live in for it's compassion. The Holiday season around here is all about giving, sharing and careing. I'm blessed. *hugs and love*....

I'm sorry to hear that cars were passing by without a second glance. That's sad. Well, good work. You certainly helped someone have a better night tonight. :D *hugs*

Date: 12/7/2001 6:48:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 33925    I hope so Rika...but I have a feeling that this poor man had been there for a long time before our car pulled up to him...I am so disappointed right now in the people in my Province..we are supposed to be known for our kindness and compassion...what happened to that tonight?? xoxo
Date: 12/7/2001 6:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 30229    What a beautiful story, Sis!!!!! You are so right... that man will probably remember you and your hubby for the rest of his life... I think you accomplished BOTH of those things tonight... I love ya Sis!!!

Date: 12/7/2001 7:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 6358    That was a very kind thing you did for that man......I have seen homeless people near my home that are cold and hungry......and I feel for them. Where I live most of the people that are poor get money from others as charity and use it on alcohol and cigarettes and drugs. I've seen men that reek of alcohol that live on the streets take the gift of money and head right down to the liquor store.....and it's very frustrating wanting to help them get back on their feet the honest way when they waste it on things they shouldn't. I guess a person has to use their best judgement hoping they will do the right thing with the money. Regardless of what they choose to do with it, it's still a great feeling knowing that you are helping someone less fortunate have a better day. God bless!!
Date: 12/7/2001 7:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 31255    I agree... This is something my mom always told my brother and I to do if we were in the right circumstances where we could help out. :o)
Date: 12/7/2001 8:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 18103    awwww sis, that was so sweet of your hubby to do...I have a very good brother-in-law :-)
Date: 12/9/2001 4:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 47983    You did the right thing, you should feel proud of yourself!!!!!!!............~*Jeset*~
