Um... are there any particular circumstances you're refering to? And I know a friend of mine who came here quite often, and felt like she knew some of the members, but was unable to get an account for a while.... |

Sis, I wondered if anyone else would notice this when I read those post and comments. I have been around here alot longer than my ID suggests and after a couple of years it is pretty easy to spot. Also people may change accounts but seldom changes views or writing style. Way to go Sis~! |

Yo Racquie, Trust a cop to spot that one! *smile* Hehehe...yeah...that goes on a fair bit around here. Some however had double accounts as they would access USM from their home and from work or school...so perhaps wanted to keep their home 'puter permanently 'logged on' and had another account for brief visits from other 'puters. Most people I know who are in this situation have already notified Admin of this. But yes...sometimes its like a Multiple Personality Support Group around here. Peace, |

Everybody needs to watchout..member of USM's self proclaimed "Watchdog Group" speaking here. We have found several cases where this is true and several members have done this with the sole purpose of decieving other members. Be cautious of that fact!!!!! Please, there are many USM members that have been duped and hurt by this..and if you are suspicious of anything, please contact admin because they can tell by ISP addresses if someone is using more than one profile...unfortunately, many use the internet forums like this as a way to go after people preditorially, taking advantage of the annonimity of it...~ |

I thought I was imaging things at first, but some of the "newbies" just can't be newbies, they know too much, aaaahhhhh its a conspiracy, lol. Glad to know about the double computer thing Agent Smith, thank you for telling me. I remember when I couldn't get on to sign up for an account it was last September, no matter how hard I tried it would not let me sign up. I remember the frustration of it all. I have been here lurking since the beginning of 2000, just did not try to get an account until Sept. of 2000. It did take me awhile to get my account, so now I understand that these people could also be "lurkers" and they might read up on our posts before their account is started. Thanks everyone for helping me see that, hugs............. |

I've seen it done in the past, but I haven't been on USM alot lately. I hope those that are doing this for the sole purpose to hurt others get caught. Good post. |

This is true, even I have an extra account I started a long time ago, when I was at school and hadn't memorized my account info yet, I started a new one but rarely use it now. The admins know about it, and so do the people I talk to when I use it. I was coming here for months before I signed up too, and I had checked out the profiles of many and watched many comments of USMers, which gave me a jump on knowing a lot about them before I actually got my numbers. Yes, some do abuse it though. If I ever use mine again, I'll come talk to you to let you know it's me. Love ya, |

I agree with you that it is strange...But maybe it is someone that is friends with someone that comes to the site and maybe they have been around while the person was on the site??? Just an idea. :) |

I dunno. I don't pay much attention and I'm too trusting anyway, but that's starting to change so maybe I'll start being suspicious and paranoid. I've also seen innocent people being accused of things and it worries me that someone may get hurt if we start throwing around accusations. I dunno, be suspicious but be sure of what you're saying. *hugs* |

OMG, I have thought the SAME thing!!!! Some are just wayyyyyyyy to knowledgeable about us and how USM works for my comfort... I dislike the idea of trying to make friends with someone who already has an account... AND ANOTHER THING... WHY are the newbies NOT filling out thier profile???????? thought about that??? |

I experienced that the other night. I think I messaged you about it. The people that are doing this aren't pulling the wool over anyones eyes. The Admins can see our isp numbers and know who's author id is coming from what computer. I doubt they realize this. |

Its very easy to have to accounts. A lot of times I'll try to get on and I cant get on, so i have to mae a new account and get a hold of an admin. I only want one account though. I like people to know who they are talking too. |
