well... sometimes people are raised that way :( or was treated a certain way and then exerts that through their behavior if that makes sense. Some people are not educated or so messed up on drugs or alochol that they don't think straight... but there is not real good justifiable reason for these actions and beliefs that you have mentioned before. :( It is a sad thing to see...  |

I sooo agree with you. i did a whole term paper on the word ignorance and its amazing what i found out. there will always be ignorant people no matter what and the sad thing is the ignorant people pass it on to their children therefore creating a whole new generation of ignorance. its really sad and its a big problem. i dont understand why people are so scared to eduacate themselves about things which they do not understand. *HUGS*  |

I think you have made some ignorant statements yourself! That's okay we are all entitled to errors. No one chooses to be ignorant! No one wakes up one morning and says,"Gee, I think I will become Ignorant today." Ignorance is a disease. There are whole communities that incubate it! In this country, that is their right. You are required to go to school untill the age of 16 in most states. The curriculum in many schools is limited (Especially in ignorant communities)or because they just don't have the funds. We are all ignorant in our respective ways. There IS no good excuse for extreme ignorance, I agree. There are still libraries and the computer. You can use a computer in most libraries. Instead of watching TNN all day, you could watch CNN or the Discovery Channel or PBS! People are lazy to open their minds and that begets ignorance. It is also not stylish to be smart. Remember what the spirit of Christmas Present said in Charles Dickens, "A Christmas Carol" when he showed Scrooge the children hiding under his cloak for warmth... "Beware these children. The boy is want and the girl is ignorance. Beware this boy but most of all, beware this girl!" Dumb people "act" smart and self-righteous because they really think they are right! It is all relative. Why do unmarried teenagers get pregnant when they have no way to support themselves much less, a little baby? It's really cheap and easy to protect yourself from pregnancy in this day and age! Why do people smoke? Why do they take drugs or drink too much? Try not to let the turkeys get you down! The other day I was in a Denney's restaurant and I saw a child so fat she could hardly walk! Her belly was hanging down below her waistband and she waddled. She must have been about 6. Her father was carrying her chubby little sister. He had a cigarette in his mouth, right by the baby's face! This was at 10:00PM, When the kids should have been asleep! Both children were filthy as were the parents! It made me want to weep and vomit all at the same time. I think we should pay ignorant people to get fixed!! What do you think?? |

I like to differentiate between ignorance and stupidity. Being ignorant is to be uneducated, uninformed, and unknowing. Being stupid is knowing better and doing it anyway. I try to help the ignorant if I can and be patient with the stupid. I believe we all fall into both catagories at one time or another. Having a low level of intelligence is not an indicator of ignorance. People of high intelligence can be ignorant of many things too.
