*** Man Fakes It! *** - by Soesis

A man who claimed to have won 300 million US dollars on an American 'powerball' lottery rollover ran up debts amounting to US$37,000 in a five-star Hong Kong hotel and hired a high-class hooker for a whole month, was arrested after paying the girl with a novelty American million dollar bill that can be bought for a couple of dollars each in the USA, according to the South China News. The scam came to light when the girl, Sun Lee, attempted to change the bill at a bank and police were called. She said later: "I gave him my life for a whole month and was thrilled when he paid me a million dollars. He was British and very kind, and promised to marry me so I trusted him. I would have checked out a Chinese or Japanese sooner, as I don't trust them." Hong Kong police said that the man could only be charged with fraud from the hotel if it could be proved that he never meant to honour the hotel bill he had run up. The matter between him and the woman was a private arrangement -- and if he defaulted she would have to take civil action.

How it changed my life:

It wasn't me -- so it didn't. But I feel for her.
