I can see the school not letting you were hat's..a lot of things can be hidden in hat's..and the bandana's...most of the one's that are worn are a symbol of a gang...Sorry.... |

I hate wearing hats, unless it's my tommy gurl hat, or gap hat in the summer, but I guess this doesn't really bother me. |

As I agree with Sherri, I think it's unfair that we (the students)cannot not wear them. Running Wolf |

Back in the day, removing your hat was a form of respect. Where I come from this was taught, but also I learned from my school days that hats/bandanas are also ways to express what gang your in. It has and does result in fights and killings. So even if you're not gang affiliated it might be safer for you to just go without your hat or bandana at school. I don't think it's stupid that they won't let you wear them. I think it's stupid that the gangs are a large part of the reason you can't wear these things and you don't even realize it. |

My son got really upset that they couldn't wear hats in high school this year (his last). I agree with Hawk 100%. It is a shame that that the gangs and gang-related violence ruin things for other students. |

My old man used to always yell at me if I wore my hat in the house, the same way he'd yell at me if I tried to sit down to eat dinner without a nice shirt on or if I left the dinner table without being excused first. Unfortunately, what your school is doing is beyond simple etiquette and now it's an attempt to deal with the troubles brought about by gangs. There was a time when which gang you were bangin with was identified by the colors or gear you wore. Hats and bandanas were a common way to display that. Maybe you are too young to remember that. Don't think that it should only be for guys because female membership in gangs is increasing rapidly. In any case, worry about your studies, not whether or not you can wear a hat (your spelling could use the attention - lol). Mr2282 |

Sometimes kids need to be kept in line. If it is a rule, then it should apply. Too many kids are doing what they want and they should learn rules. The outside world other than school is worse, rules is all you have. |

Bandanna's resemble gangs and hats can conceal weapons. Too many opurtunities to make trouble. I agree with Sherri. |

I think that wearing ballcaps and bandannas shows a little of disrespect. Were not allowed to wear them at our school either, because they might end up in a gang or something...-Mindy |

If the hats are kept on in the normal fasion like forward or even completely backwards i dont see a problem as for bandanas i think white or black or even pink and purple orange yellow brown or beige, but because of gangs i would exclude red and blue. green would be o.k too i think. ~ForgottenOne~ |
