SEX OFFENDER

I really need some serious advice. Let me tell you my problem....My son whom is a grown man came across something very shocking to us all today. For some time now I have had a man that comes to my house to do my yard work. When i met him, i really liked him. He is an excellent worker, always does and excellent job for me, so much so that i hired him to do my daughters yard too. He lives about three houses down from my daughter, she has a son, 9 months old and three step-children, all boys. All my children are grown but i keep my grandson everyday. Well today my son was on the computer and found out that my yard man is a sex offender. He was charged in 1983 for exploitation and molestation of children. We were shocked and devastated! I talked to my husband about this and he says i should just let and come since we have no small children around other than our grandson, which no one is ever allowed to hold other than family because i am too protective of him anyway which is the way i was with my own. My daughter and sons think i should fire him. He is so nice and always has been so polite. I don't know what to do. DO NOT misunderstand me, i have no use for people who molest or harm children. My husband says if he has done nothing for 18 years that he could honestly be rehabilitated. My husband also says that sometimes what you read about people could be more fiction than fact. He thinks i should let him continue to work here and not say anything. My husband is a wonderful person that believes there is good in all people and everyone should be given a second chance. Please tell me what you would do.
