Never seen one, as I am alive at this moment but the book I have, VAMPIRES: THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE UNDEAD, does raise some interesting questions and would be well worth reading. |

Actually yes. Take away all the movies and books and go back to the original fokelore of the Vampire and yes there were frequant occurances...the best way to find out more is to read this book, which is small but really good, 'Real Vampires' by Daniel Cohen |

Well Fated, I have never seen any real proof of Vampires' existance. Perhaps they may exist on other worlds. Just maybe a ship load of blood-sucking aliens made their way to earth somehow and the vampire legend was born. Who knows? Good question. Write on...Kronk |

Suggest the probablitiy of 'psychic vampires', defined loosley, is more probable than the 'blood-sucking'kin. |

I believe they are real. There are accounts going way back on all the creatures of the night. I highly respect the unknown and i would have to say they are real. Vampires are widely misunderstood though, as they do not only drink blood, there are those that just take energy from you. |

Haha, the tv vampires that wear capes and say "I vant to sUck your blood", now those vampires are fictional. The real vampires are people with a rare disorder in which they are so deficient in the nutrients, vitamins, etc in their system, that they have to drink blood in order to make up for what they lack. It's true, my sister's friend wrote a report on these sickly people. It's not like they actually want to be bloodsucking vampires...not like the young people today that seem to think they are vampires LOL. That's just silly, all the vampire night clubs and what not. They pretend, but they'll never be real vampires. |

I have been to Rumania, and close to the town called Transylvania, the people there are really paranoid about the "vampires" and along the road there are hundreds of stalls that sell strings of garlic, crucifixes and other vampire deterring things. After my trip there I actually do think that they might exist. <<biohazard>> |

i ahve to agree with mugwump, i have heard of the disorders you speak of, the other disorder is sensitivity to sun light, which when exposed, will cause the person to blister and burn very quikly, but i have never heard of all the differnet disoders being in one person. Tikarn |

I'm pretty sure the old vampire myths of vampires were a result of peoples ignorance of medical conditions. I remember reading something about it somewhere where all the signs of a traditional "vampire" were explained by medical conditions that had nothing to do with the supernatural. Of course, then Bram Stoker comes along and romanticises vampirism with his Dracula character. And then form this you have the modern vampires of Anne Rice etc. who are a far cry from the walking corpses of Romania.Still, wouldn't it be cool if they really did exist?..Dark Phoenix |

I love the idea of vampires as well. There is something so mysterious and sexy about them....well about our idea of them. Definitely not sexy in the literal sense of the vampire. Rotting corpses are obviously disgusting but that suave man in black that we have come to represent the vampire with holds a lot of mystery and sex appeal. I believe in psychic vampires, and although I really want to believe in blood vampires I'm not so sure. I love the idea of those sexy top-hat wearing men, although that's really just a pop culture icon. Now you all think I'm a complete weirdo I'm sure. ~Cellophane Girl |
