As most of you know I am in a wavering situation at work, not knowing what will happen from one day to the next, and my husband is looking for a job.
Well Best Buy was hiring people in their computer department, my hubby is over-qualified, because he has A+ Certs etc...
Anyhow, so yesterday they have a job fair, and he shows up, suit and tie...
He said the rest of the people were around 16 or 17 wearing t-shirts and jeans.
The lady says he has to complete the hiring process, meaning he has to take this phone survey thing.
So he dials the number, "Welcome to Best Buy, press 1 if you a applying for a job...etc"
So he gets to a point where they list the seasonal positions at the store he wants to work at, and then "Or press 0 to return to the menu"
Well computer tech isn't seasonal, so he presses 0
"Thank you for applying at Best Buy...CLICK"
He looks at the phone for a minute, and says "I got disconnected"
So the lady redials, and as soon as he enters his social "We are sorry, you have already applied for work at Best Buy. You are not eligible to reapply for 30 days CLICK"
So he says "But... I didn't apply for anything."
The lady says, "Oh, the computer screwed up. Sorry."
"So what do I do?"
"Wait 30 days and come back and reapply."
WHAT?
Have we so lost touch with people that we depend on a poorly programmed screening process to choose our employees? What ever happened to HUMAN RESOURCES?
My husband looked at her and said "Frankly I am disappointed, I do not wish to pursue employment with a company that bases its desicions on a machine"
And he left.
Is it just me or is the whole thing STUPID!
Love,
Kethria
